Letters from the Front Lines

"“Unlike all other forms of lute or combat the conditions are that the winner shall take nothing; neither his ease, nor his pleasure, nor any notions of glory; nor, if he wins far enough, shall there be any reward within himself.”" - Ernest Hemingway

The Mission

     “Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions;
    they have not exposed your iniquity to restore your fortunes,
    but have seen for you oracles that are false and misleading.”

Lamentations 2:14 (ESV)

War. Our world seems to be full of it, with each new day bringing headlines concerning death and destruction here and abroad. Unfortunately, we seem to have traded our sense of the local and spiritual for the global and temporal, blinding us to the reality of the war in culture and faith.

It is because of this blindness that I have dug the Foxhole. Just as the advent of photography dispelled the idea of battlefield glory, opening the eyes of the American public to the horror of war, the mission of this site is to give reports from time to time on the state of a culture that has completely lost its vision, headed for certain doom. Lacking sufficient correction and counsel, it is headed nowhere, fast, when vision is sorely needed for this time of cultural devastation and distraction last seen in the late Roman Empire. This is the issue at hand; it is the call to action.

To illustrate the problem:

“Cheshire Puss,” asked Alice. “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”

“That depends a good deal on where you want to go,” said the Cat.

“I don’t much care where,” said Alice.

“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.

The call: Will you join in the vision? Or will you stand by and watch the passive destruction?
